In this page we will explore the organization of elements in the periodic table.
3-Dimensional Table
Many different versions of the periodic table have been proposed, and many of those versions have very interesting displays (see below). For this extra-credit assignment you can build a periodic table cylinder with bulges (instructions below).
**Extra Credit Assignment**
Click on the image to the left to link to a website that describes the organization of the cylinder table with bulges. Build this and turn it in to Mr. Pettinato before the unit assessment for extra credit.
Interactive Tables
Below you will find links to several interactive tables. My favorite is the dynamic table from ptable.com. This interactive table allows you to view elements by classification, boiling/melting points, and even electron configuration--way cool!!! Play around with the tabs at the top of the page to see the electron configuration, orbital notation, and even the ortibal shapes for each element.
Another interactive table comes from Los Alamos National Laboratory and contains up-to-date information on each of the 118 elements. Click on the image to link to the table.
The professors and scientists at the University of Nottingham in England have put together an interactive table with videos on each of the 118 elements with commentary from a HUGE Einstein fan!!!
